Arts BuildingsBuldozerOn 18 February 2008 the Vale of White Horse Council Development Control Committee voted to give Berkeley Homes permission to destroy the Music and Drama Blocks on the St Mary's School central site so that 18 affordable housing units can be built in their place. What does WACC do now?

However disappointed/disgusted/depressed/outraged we all are at this decision there is very little point in spending our energies moaning about what might have been. There are much more constructive things we could be doing ...

Many thanks to those of your who responded to my request for information in the article "Will you miss St Mary's when it closes?"

You can read the resulting report St Mary's School: Usage of the School Facilities by Local Groups here (pdf reader required)

This has been submitted to the local planners in Vale of White Horse District Council. It is also being circulated to local councillors and interested parties. Please do draw it to the attention of anyone you think might be interested. We do hope it will help to influence the decision making in a direction that benefits this community.

Thanks again for your help!
